2018 Walk-In Access Enrollment Open

The Brown SWCD is happy to announce that applications are now being accepted for the Walk-In Access program for the 2018 hunting season. Walk-In Access is a voluntary program that pays landowners to open private land up for public hunting. Lands enrolled in the program will be open for public hunting from September 1st thru May 31st. Eligible lands include land in conservation programs such as CRP, RIM and CREP or any land with high quality natural cover. To date over 23,000 acres of land have been opened to the public for hunting through this program. Landowners who enroll land will receive a payment of $10 to $13 an acre depending on the amount of acres enrolled, duration of enrollment, and location. Landowners are also provided liability protection and can opt out of the program at any time with a 5 day notice.
