Erosion Control and Water Management Program
The Erosion Control and Water Management Cost-Share Program (commonly known as State Cost-Share) was created to provide funds to Soil and Water Conservation Districts for the implementation of conservation practices that protect and improve water quality by controlling soil erosion and reducing sedimentation.
Through the program, landowners can request financial and technical assistance from their local SWCD for the implementation of BWSR-approved conservation practices. This program provides up to 75% cost-share of the total eligible costs of a practice.

Cost-Share applications will be reviewed and prioritized based upon the high priority problems identified in the Erosion Control & Water Management Program section of our Annual Plan. Brown SWCD Supervisors have set the following as a list of standard cost-share practices accepted for application consideration:
- Grassed Waterways
- Terraces
- Riparian Buffer Strips
- Streambank, Shoreland and Roadside Projects
- Critical Area Stabilization
- Sediment Retention, Erosion or Water Control Structures
- Diversions
- Waste Management Systems
- Cover Crops
