TREE PLANTING IS AVAILABLE THIS YEAR!
The Brown SWCD is again offering a tree planting service for trees purchased through the district. Tree planting is not available on potted trees. The cost for tree planting for 2018 is 50¢ per tree or a $100 minimum, whichever is greater, for in-county plantings. For out-of-county plantings, the cost is 50¢ per tree or a $150 minimum, whichever is greater, plus mileage to and from the planting site. The landowner provides a tractor and driver, and the district will provide the tree planter and 2 staff to plant trees. Simply indicate on your order form if you would like the tree planting service. Staff will coordinate with you next spring to set up a date for the planting.
Brown SWCD participates in an annual tree program. Several hardwood and conifer species, both bare root and potted, are available for conservation purposes. The trees are secured from private nurseries at wholesale rates for our customers and should be used for agricultural purposes such as farmstead windbreaks, field windbreaks and wildlife plantings. District staff will assist land owners to the best of our ability with planning, spacing and questions regarding the best suited species for your soil types and growing conditions.
